I’ve just spent a little time with Nate Adams as we are developing something special for the latter part of the year. A large theme for one of these events harks back to some old time science, which is right up my street. While sitting reflecting over some of our favourite demos we also had time to dig through some old textbooks I lovingly keep hidden away.

I always say that to get people talking excitedly about something you’ve done, someone needs to have missed it. “Oh, you wouldn’t believe what they did with the thing and the other thing…” I’m no exception. The end of July saw the British Interactive Group’s (BIG) annual event and I missed it.
There were many reasons why. Firstly, the registration cost of these events makes them somewhat exclusive, especially when you add on the cost of travel, food and accommodation. The same issues were levelled against the British Science Association’s Science Communication conference held in London. For this latter one, I was a telegate, following on Twitter and still managed to contribute to the discussion.

It’s hard to decide what I should write about. The things that I’ve been up to, or the things I’m about to do.
I returned to the Cheltenham Science Festival to provide activities in the BBC Science Zone. Accompanied by my fellow science presenters, Andrew Smith, Nathan Adams, Chris Hampsheir and Vicki Dennison, we provided four days of non-stop science activities. Pictures will be filling up the gallery soon enough, but I must reflect on the highlights of the festival for myself.
