Summertime and Festivals

I’m not getting excited. It isn’t really warm yet. But that’s not to say that there isn’t time for a festival or two. I mentioned last month that Cheltenham Science Festival was calling and I’m still looking forward to that in June. But is it a festival without the mud, camping and hippies?

einsteins[2]Well that’s what I’m delighted to be doing at the Green Man festival. Well to be fair, I’ll be performing a new show on the Solar Stage in Einstein’s Garden, rather than hanging around much. (Utter Lies… I’ll be waiting to see Band of Horses.) The theme for this year is ‘Heroes’ so mine will be the ‘Half-Baked Heroes’. I’ll be exploring the science in the kitchens we have and the food and stuff that lives there. What do we already have that we take for granted? What can we learn from the bits we use everyday? Anyway, programmes have yet to be finalised and times announced but it’ll be sometime between the 16th and 18th of August. Check it out at www.greenman.net.

shapeimage_7[1]Also, happy to provide an update on ScienceGrrl. The team have been working really hard and there are a few local chapters springing up all over the country. So far, Birmingham doesn’t have one, but that won’t be for much longer. Things are at the planning stage and proposals are being put forward to relevant people. So keep your eye on Twitter for more news from @ScienceGrrl on this.

Other things you might have noticed… well the website has had an update. Not a full reboot, merely a soft reset. Let me know if you like it. If it’s rubbish, then it’ll only be until I can master some other web authoring software.
